AfterKin is a calm, practical guide for families after a loss.
We built AfterKin to help people understand what to do next when someone dies, without having to piece together the process from dozens of scattered sources.
Who we are
We are people with families and aging parents who did not want to wait until the middle of grief to figure out funeral decisions, paperwork, probate, and all the practical steps that follow a loss.
We wanted to prepare ahead of time and build something that would make those moments feel less overwhelming for other families too.
Why we built this
Most after-loss information is scattered and hard to use when someone is exhausted. We built AfterKin to bring the important steps into one place so people can feel more prepared, more oriented, and less alone.
AfterKin includes step-by-step guides, checklists, tools, and state-specific probate information. It is for informational purposes only and does not replace professional advice.
Martin leads the research, writing, and editorial review for the site, using official government, court, and primary-source materials wherever practical.
